About Upswings Jewelry

Upswings Jewelry was founded by Plonneke and Janis Thoolen, a mother and daughter design team living and working on the beautiful West Coast of the US. Together we turn our aesthetic inspirations into handcrafted unique jewelry accessories.

Plonneke has dreamed of becoming a jeweler since teenage – living in the Netherlands she wanted to attend the Schoonhoven Academy. Life intervened: Moving to the US in the 1980’s, raising a family and founding several successful businesses prevented a commitment to jewelry, until she moved to California and attended the Revere Academy in San Francisco.

Janis earned a BA degree from the Academy of Art University and completed the jewelry design and manufacturing curriculum from the Revere Academy in San Francisco. Janis and Plonneke joined forces to found Upswings Jewelry in 2010.

Over the years Plonneke and Janis have participated in many great Art Shows in the San Francisco Bay area and have established a large group of enthusiastic customers. In order to expand the visibility and access to our jewelry artwork, the website has been redesigned and the social media exposure is being expanded.
